Overview
The Youth in Need (YIN) Ghana Foundation is committed to providing educational opportunities for academically gifted but financially disadvantaged students. For the 2025 academic year, the foundation is offering a fully funded scholarship program to support Ghanaian students in their pursuit of higher education.
About the Scholarship
The YIN Ghana Foundation Scholarship is designed to alleviate the financial burden of university education by covering:
- Full tuition fees, ensuring recipients can focus on their studies without financial worries.
- Accommodation support, making on-campus or off-campus living more affordable.
- Book allowances, to help students acquire necessary learning materials.
The scholarship is awarded for a duration of three to six years, depending on the chosen course of study. However, recipients must maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.25 to retain their scholarship status.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Ghanaian Citizenship – Must be between 14 and 20 years old.
- Financial Need – Candidates must demonstrate a genuine financial need, proving that their family income cannot support their education.
- Academic Excellence – A minimum aggregate score of 9 or better in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is required.
- University Admission – Must have secured admission to a public university in Ghana.
Special Considerations – Priority will be given to:
- Students with disabilities.
- Students with a parent who has a disability or mental health condition.
Scholarship Exclusivity – Applicants should not be beneficiaries of any other scholarship program and must be willing to commit fully to this initiative.
Fields of Study Covered
The scholarship supports students in a variety of academic disciplines, including but not limited to:
- Medical Laboratory Science
- Theology (Trinity Theological Seminary)
Additional provisions may be available for students with special needs.

Interested candidates should prepare and submit the following documents:
- Academic Records – Two recent high school terminal reports and a WASSCE result slip.
- Proof of Identity – A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate.
- Recommendation Letter – From a recognized authority who can attest to the applicant’s academic potential and financial need.
- Personal Statement – A 500-word essay detailing financial struggles, academic ambitions, and career goals.
- Supporting Documents – Additional evidence such as parental payslips, medical reports, or death certificates, where applicable.
