The First Book Grant for Scholars of Color 2025
The First Book Grant for scholars of color is a project with a focus on supporting the academic publishing endeavours of scholars from underrepresented communities with research projects on Christian faith and life, the practice of ministry, religious trends and movements. This grant program seeks to address the long-standing disparities in academic publishing by helping early-career scholars in researching, writing and publishing their first book whiles promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the scholarly landscape.
GRANT BENEFITS
Selected applicants will receive up to US$55,000.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The grant is opened to scholars who:
- Are Self identified persons of color
- Have earned a terminal research degree, specifically a Ph.D or Th.D.
- Are engaged in a scholarly research project leading to the publications of their first book, or a second book if necessary
- Work in fields related to history, systematic and practical theology, Biblical studies, Social science, ethics etc
- Are individuals working in academic positions in accredited higher institutions in the USA or Canada.
