At an event hosted at a Hollywood studio on Thursday night, Tesla revealed the much awaited robotaxi to the world. Fans of the brand of electric cars, however, will have to wait until at least 2026 to get a close-up look.

On the Warner Bros. studio stage, Elon Musk, the CEO, arrived in style in a Tesla "Cybercab". He gave the excited crowd a demonstration of the AI-powered future car, which is missing a pedal box and steering wheel. Additionally, Musk highlighted Tesla's advancements in autonomous driving and the company's closer approach to fully driverless vehicles.

Nine years after its first deployment, Tesla began to raise concerns about the stability of its "Full Self-Driving" (FSD) software. Musk is upbeat about the company's future despite the challenges it faces.

We're moving from supervised Full Self-Driving to unsupervised driving, where you can literally fall asleep and wake up at your destination," he said. "This is the future, and it's going to be incredible.

Furthermore, Musk emphasized Tesla's progress toward autonomous driving and the company's nearer approach to self-driving cars.

Meanwhile, the company's FSD and Autopilot technologies is being closely monitored by US safety inspectors. The software's safety is being investigated by the Justice Department and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in response to many instances, including a deadly crash involving a Tesla that used FSD in Washington state last year.

Not all the obstacles will make Tesla backtrack in its excitement for the future technological dependency of the company. Nevertheless, as competition intensifies and safety fears escalate, both investors and customers have to ask whether ambitious predictions made by Tesla’s management will be realized, or turn out to be pure fantasy.
