O'Reilly Senior High's Murder Case Referred To Attorney General For Legal Counsel
The Police have informed the La District Court that a duplicate docket in connection with the murder case involving students of the O'Reilly Senior High School has been forwarded to the Attorney General's office for advice.
A couple of weeks ago, the internet was shaken when the murder of Edwards Borketey Sackey was made known. The deceased had a casual disagreement with Mawuli, his friend in the dormitory as they were arguing over whose father is the richest. Within minutes, Mawuli had pulled out a knife to stab Edward who passed away after sometime.
The case forwarding was made known to the court by Chief Inspector Paul Osei Adjei, representing the police. The officer further told the court that the investigator in the case had been asked to pursue the matter with the Attorney General's Department.
Magistrate Adwoa Benaso Asumadu-Sakyi explained the processes to the family of the deceased, at her convenience, for transparency, and in order that things be made clear; their continued involvement in the case was emphasized.
The suspect, Godwin Mawuli, was remanded in police custody and is to appear before the court on 21st October 2024. Mawuli has been charged in connection with the killing of Edwards Borketey Sackey, a final-year General Arts student of O'Reilly School, over a disagreement in their parent's wealth status.
The accused was provisionally charged with murder, and the court has preserved his plea pending further legal developments.
