OpenAI Launches SearchGPT to Battle Google and Microsoft in AI Search
OpenAI Takes It a notch Higher with SearchGPT, Pitting Itself Against Google and Microsoft

OpenAI has launched a new AI-based search engine, SearchGPT, designed for users to find information in a more productive format than Google or Microsoft’s Bing.

Enclosed within ChatGPT, SearchGPT is able to provide live details on sports events and scores, stock movements, news, and weather forecasts.

This announcement puts OpenAI at the forefront of the entire search engine competition. As a result of this news, Alphabet, the owner of Google, lost 1% of its shares. This also means competition for Microsoft, an OpenAI investor with about $14 billion, as OpenAI features Bing.

Initially, SearchGPT will be available only to subscribers of ChatGPT Plus and Team in addition to those on the waiting list. In the forthcoming months, it will also be provided to users of ChatGPT Enterprise, Edu, and free ones.

Srinivas Narayana, OpenAI’s engineering vice president, has stated that Bing is still a useful tool in the evolution process of SearchGPT. On the other hand, OpenAI has worked in partnership with several prestigious media companies, such as Reuters, AP, and News Corp., to integrate relevant and modern content that enhances the search process for their clients.

The new search engine allows users to engage in conversations rather than merely seeking information. If they wish to dig deeper into a particular matter, they will be able to ask additional questions. OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, demonstrated it as a quicker and less obtrusive method to obtain information.
