Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has fulfilled a significant promise to the people of Mepe by presenting a 40-foot shipping container filled with medical equipment worth US$1.2 million to the newly constructed Mepe Health Centre.

This generous donation includes a wide range of vital medical equipment and supplies such as anesthesia machines, ECG/EKG devices, ultrasound equipment, an endoscopy tower, an x-ray machine, infant incubators, infant warmers, autoclaves, defibrillators, lab freezers, CPAP machines, labor and delivery beds, OR lights, suction machines, patient monitors, an oxygen system, pulse oximeters, surgery tables, refrigerators for storing vaccines, wheelchairs, sphygmomanometers, and much more.

Expressing his gratitude, Ablakwa acknowledged the unwavering support and generosity of his partners, SOS International, headquartered in the USA, who played a crucial role in this successful collaboration. He also extended heartfelt thanks to the Citi FM Foundation and the Ghana Chamber of Mines, who sponsored the physical construction of the health center.

The donation is part of ongoing efforts to rebuild and restore North Tongu after the devastating spillage from the Akosombo and Kpong Dams by the Volta River Authority (VRA) last year. This new medical facility, strategically located near the resettlement camp constructed for those displaced by the spillage, represents a significant milestone in the community’s recovery.

Ablakwa shared his vision to further expand and upgrade the Mepe Health Centre into a modern hospital by next year. With the impressive collection of medical equipment now available, the community is well on its way to achieving this goal, ensuring that residents have access to high-quality healthcare services.

The MP's commitment to the well-being of his constituents continues to inspire and bring hope to the people of North Tongu, as they witness the tangible results of their collective efforts in rebuilding their beloved community.
