Write a book on how You Destroy the Economy in 8 Years; Mahama tells Bawumia
At the #Mahama4Change2024 campaign at Old Ningo in the Ningo-Prampram constituency, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for their handling of Ghana’s economy since they took office in January 2017.
While highlighting several areas where he believes the NPP has underperformed, Mahama emphasized that the worst failure is the management of the economy. He stated, “They have failed completely in all aspects of our progress and the society. But the worst failure is the management of our economy.
Today our economy is in a complete and total mess... They took a healthy and thriving economy from the NDC administration, and in 8 years, they have destroyed it.”
Mahama contrasted this with the NDC’s approach, stating that unlike the NPP, who he accused of shifting blame, the NDC takes full responsibility and works to fix challenges. He further explained that when the NDC returns to power, their 120-day program will prioritize opening a dialogue on the economy.
“We are going to open a dialogue on the economy and we are going to open the books for all of you to see the damage that the NPP has done to this economy,” he stated.
Continuing his criticism, Mahama suggested that NPP leaders such as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, President Akufo-Addo, and former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta should write a book on how to destroy an economy in eight years. “That is the book Bawumia and co should be writing. That is the book Ken Ofori-Atta should be writing. That is the book Nana Akufo-Addo should be writing—'How to destroy a healthy economy in 8 years.' It will be a best seller. When they go into opposition, they can co-author that book,” Mahama remarked.
