NDC Vows to Investigate Scandals Under Akufo Addo - Bawumia Administration

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to launching comprehensive investigations into the numerous scandals that have plagued Ghana under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government.

Speaking at the launch of the second edition of the party’s 2024 Manifesto, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, outlined the policies the NDC intends to implement to promote good governance and combat corruption if elected in the 2024 elections.

Ablakwa highlighted several scandals that the party plans to investigate, including Ghana’s management and expenditures related to COVID-19, the SML, the ‘Agyapa’ deal, the Maths Sets procurement, the Power Distribution Services (PDS) deal, the Sky Train project, the Pwalugu Dam project, “Appearance Fees,” Ambulance Spare Parts, and various illegal sole-sourced contracts.

He stated, “[We will] launch inquiries into the numerous scandals that have rocked the nation under the corrupt Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP government. These inquiries shall include investigations into Ghana’s COVID-19 management and expenditures and the SML, ‘Agyapa’, Maths Sets, PDS, Sky Train, Pwalugu Dam, ‘Appearance Fees’, Ambulance Spare Parts scandals, illegal sole-sourced contracts scandals, among others.

In addition to these investigations, Ablakwa mentioned that the NDC would address issues of state capture and recover all looted lands across the country. He emphasized the party's resolve to ensure accountability and transparency in governance.

The North Tongu MP also pledged that the NDC would reopen investigations into major unresolved cases, including the Ayawaso West Wuogon election violence, the 2020 election-related killings, and the unresolved murders of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale and social activist Silas Wulochamey.

As the 2024 elections approach, the NDC’s commitment to investigating these scandals is positioned as a key component of their platform to restore integrity and trust in Ghana’s government.
