NDC: Trump's Victory Is a Good Omen for Us

The National Democratic Congress, NDC, is beaming with optimism following the recent victory of Donald J. Trump in the U.S. presidential election, saying his comeback could be a positive omen for the party's fortunes in Ghana's own election on December 7, 2024. In a statement, NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey congratulated Trump, hinting at what the victory portended for Ghana's political scene.

Kwetey said the victory of Trump suggests that U.S. voters were reaching for a tried hand as opposed to the former administration. He said just as in America, where over time, citizens got tired of the insensitive, corrupt, and economically mismanaged government, so are Ghanaians tired of the same. He then drew parallels between the U.S. election and the coming Ghanaian polls, saying that Ghanaians would also vote for a change in government, turning their backs on what he called bad governance by the ruling party.

The NDC, through its flagbearer, says it is the party fit to restore "stability, integrity, and renewed hope" in Ghana. Kwetey emphasized the commitment of the Party to the economy of the country and also to transparency in all activities of government institutions. The NDC feels that if they can align their goals with the perceived mandate of the American people, Ghanaian voters will also rally behind them in meaningful change.

With only weeks until Ghana's presidential election, the NDC is racing against the clock to make its case to restless voters ahead of the contest.
