NDC Rejects Re-Collation Results, Accuses Electoral Commission of Manipulation
The
National Democratic Congress (NDC) has firmly rejected the results from the
ongoing parliamentary re-collation process. The party claims the Electoral
Commission (EC) has manipulated the process in favor of the New Patriotic Party
(NPP), which has been declared winners in seven out of nine constituencies
being recounted.
In a strongly worded statement signed by NDC General Secretary Hon. Fifi Fiavi
Kwetey, the party described the results as “illegal and manipulated.” The
statement continued, “These results, declared under questionable and illegal
circumstances, represent a blatant assault on Ghana's democratic principles and
a betrayal of the sovereign will of the Ghanaian people.”
The NDC accused the EC, under Jean Mensa’s leadership, of deliberately
undermining the electoral process to serve political interests. “Jean Mensa and
her team appear determined to plunge this country into chaos to satisfy the
interests of their political benefactors,” the statement alleged.
The party also highlighted what it described as a disturbing partnership
between the EC, police, and military. “This unholy alliance has facilitated the
unlawful manipulation of election results and tarnished the credibility of
these institutions, which are critical to the survival of our democracy,” the
NDC claimed.

One of the
NDC’s major grievances is the EC’s alleged defiance of a court order. “The EC’s
deliberate disregard for a Stay of Execution order served against them is a
flagrant violation of the law and a clear indication of their contempt for due
process and the rule of law,” the statement said.
The party didn’t mince words about its disappointment with moral bodies like
the National Peace Council, accusing them of staying silent during these
critical times. “We also express our disappointment with the National Peace
Council and other moral bodies whose silence in the face of these developments
speaks volumes,” the statement read.
Calling on the international community, the NDC emphasized the gravity of the
situation. “We urge the international community to take note of the dangerous
and unlawful actions of the Electoral Commission, which pose a significant
threat to Ghana’s peace, stability, and democratic progress,” the party said.
Despite their frustration, the NDC insists it will not back down. “Let it be
known that the NDC will not relent in its fight to defend the will of the
people and ensure justice prevails,” the statement declared.
