ORAL Team Receives Report on GHS 500M NSS Ghost Names Scandal
The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team has officially launched its fight
against corruption by tackling a significant issue—the National Service Scheme
ghost names scandal. This scandal, estimated to have cost Ghana over GHS 500
million, is the first case on ORAL's agenda.
Earlier, the ORAL team launched a confidential
platform for citizens to report on suspected corruption matters. Now, In a tweet
shared by Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, chairman of the ORAL team, it was
revealed that the team has received a comprehensive dossier on the matter.
“Team ORAL has today received the full dossier on the National Service ghost
names scandal which conservative estimates indicate has cost Ghana over GHS500
million,” Ablakwa stated.
He expressed gratitude to investigative journalism organization ‘The Fourth
Estate’ and the ‘Media Foundation for West Africa’ for their role in uncovering
the issue. “We are extremely grateful to ‘The 'Fourth Estate’ and the ‘Media
Foundation for West Africa’ for the presentation and their exceptional
patriotism,” Ablakwa said, adding, “Together, we shall reset Ghana and recover
all loot.”

The ORAL
team also held its first meeting at 2 p.m. on the same day and made a bold
declaration regarding their approach to the anti-corruption mission. According
to Ablakwa, all team members have resolved to work without pay, foregoing
salaries, allowances, per-diems, and fuel coupons.
“We shall not be receiving salaries, allowances, per-diems or fuel coupons,”
Ablakwa announced. He assured Ghanaians that none of the team’s activities
would come at a cost to taxpayers.
In his statement, Ablakwa appealed for public support, emphasizing the
patriotic and selfless nature of the team’s mission. “We continue to count on
your support, let’s do this for God and Country. Ghana First,” he concluded.
Many Ghanaians are optimistic that the initiative will usher in a new era of
accountability and transparency.
