Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security Palgrave Boakye Danquah has indicated that the National Cathedral project will be reconceptualized if the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, wins the December 7 presidential election.

He said that full accountability will be rendered including a forensic audit of the project.
Mr Boakye Danquah, who is a key member of Dr Bawumia’s campaign team, said given the huge sum of money invested in the project, a Bawumia-led government will take another look at it if he wins.

"I have traveled a bit and seen basilicas and cathedrals. They are all not of such huge nature. I can say that if Bawumia wins the election, the national cathedral project will be reconceptualized into something smaller,” he stated on Key Points on TV3 on November 30.
He added that “It is not my call to make whether the project should go on or not but as Ghanaians and public servants it is important that we are transparent and let Ghanaians know how we have used their funds.”

Speaking on the same show, the MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa further stated that the continuous payment of salaries to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral project must stop immediately.
