Despite being initially included in the team, Partey was not able to play in Ghana's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification doubleheader against Sudan due to a medical ailment.

Ghana lost the second of the two games after a scoreless draw with Sudan on October 10 at the Accra Sports Stadium. Throughout the current season, the Black Stars' deputy captain has been an essential member of Arteta's team, starting each of the Gunners' seven league games.

“Thomas Partey is fit and ready. For Gabriel Martinelli, same as Havertz; we will decide today, the manager said in his pre-game presser. On matchday two, Arsenal defeated Unai Emery's Aston Villa 2-0, and Partey was rewarded for his outstanding start to the season with a rare goal at Villa Park.
