Mahama Urges Aflao Residents to Resist Ghana Card Seizures by Security Personnel

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on residents along the Aflao border to resist any attempts by security personnel to confiscate their Ghana Cards.

This follows reports that officers from the Ghana Immigration Service are seizing the cards from locals.

Addressing a gathering in Aflao, Mahama urged residents to stand firm against such actions, emphasizing that no one, including immigration or police officers, has the authority to take their Ghana Cards. He clarified that only the National Identification Authority has the power to withdraw a Ghana Card, and even then, only through a formal process.

Mahama stressed, "You cannot meet a person on the street and determine their nationality just by their appearance." He encouraged residents to refuse to surrender their cards to anyone without proper legal grounds.
