Mahama responds to Akufo-Addo, saying, "When you wake up, you'll hear my position on Free SHS clearly."
Mahama responds to Akufo-Addo. John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), made a direct attack on President Nana Akufo-Addo on Thursday, October 17, while on a tour of the Greater Accra Region.
Mahama addressed recent remarks made by Akufo-Addo on relevant national matters by speculating that the president might be "sleeping" or not in the nation when addressing supporters in the Ningo Prampram Constituency.

President Akufo-Addo challenged Mr. Mahama to explain his position on the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, and he did so.
The President had expressed doubts about Mahama's dedication to the program, arguing that the former leader's contradictory remarks suggested he couldn't be trusted with the Free SHS's future.
Mr. Mahama intimated to his audience that President Akufo-Addo might not have been listening, even though he had made it clear what he thought about Free SHS.
"When you stop sleeping, you’ll hear clearly my position on Free SHS," Mahama responded to the president’s request that he give a direct response.
He went on to say that the Free SHS program's implementation issues will be addressed by the incoming NDC government.
