Mahama Promises to Build Modern Market for Savelugu

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, has made a bold move to assure the people of Savelugu municipality of an ultramodern market should he win the presidential slot in the upcoming 2024 general elections. At a durbar in Savelugu on October 31, Mahama assured the gathering of his interest in creating a well-structured and well-spaced trading environment for local traders.

The proposed market facility seeks to position Savelugu as a significant trading hub, where more economic activities will be upgraded in the area. Mahama noted, "There are many things that the NDC has in its manifesto for the people of Ghana. My sister who just spoke talked about the Women's Development Bank. We are going to create branches of the Women's Development Bank everywhere. And one of the places we will create it is in the Savelugu market."

It also falls within the program of the NDC to develop the rural and urban parts of this country simultaneously. Mahama said he intended to bring in a Market Enhancement Programme with an emphasis on rehabilitation at the local market levels to attract traders for increased business activities. He showed how vibrant the Savelugu Market Day was, which was worthwhile and had a lot of avenues to grow. "Anytime I pass here on Savelugu Market Day, the number at the market is impressive. It's one of those markets we are surely going to give special attention to."

As the elections approach, Mahama is seeking to win confidence for the NDC with promises of developmental changes that are centered on the people.
