Mahama Claims He Would've Transformed Ghana into Dubai If He Were President
NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has asserted that if he were Ghana's president, he would have transformed the country into Dubai.
According to the former president, he is unhappy with the level of development seen in parts of the country under the Akufo-Addo governmment despite the loans that the current administration has taken.
Mr Mahama recounted that when he was in office for four years, his administration took loans of only $3.5 billion. However, he continued, with almost $11.5 billion in loans, Akufo Addo has not achieved commensurate projects in the country.
He opined that if he had gotten the $11.5 billion that President Akufo-Addo had, Ghana would have been Dubai under his administration.
"Within five years [President Akufo-Addo] took a loan of $11.5billion. I was in power for four years, all the things we did, new harbours, airport and all the things were from a $3.5 billion loan that we took.
“Ghana would have been like Dubai under me if I got the kind of money Akufo-Addo had.”
Meanwhile, Mahama earlier argued that the Presidential Peace Pact may amount to nothing if key stakeholders are not deliberate about ensuring it materializes at the polling centres.
