NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has urged all stakeholders in the elections to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes peace ahead of the polls.

He says Ghana has always been the envy of many countries due to the peaceful nature of the country hence that accolade must be destroyed.

He added that Ghana's peace means more to him than anything else, adding that the main opposition party will not act in ways that jeopardize the peace of the country.

In a Facebook post, the former president said, "My brothers and sisters in the Lord, Ghana is known for its peaceful religious coexistence. We’ve always been the envy of many countries in our sub-region where peace has eluded them.

As we approach the elections, we should never forget that peace is fragile. Like an egg, once it is cracked, it cannot be put together again without the scars showing. We must never again unleash fatal violence on our people at polling stations, peacefully expressing their democratic rights to choose their leaders.”

Mahama's call for peace underscores a greater need for unity amid rising wars in some parts of the world. The onus is on everyone to preserve our long-standing peace that other countries have long admired.

In other news, Mahama promised to create jobs and boost Ghana's economy through exports.
