Jah Lead threatens JMJ over copyright

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artiste Jah Lead has once again clashed with renowned music producer JMJ over copyright issues.

In a recent interview, Jah Lead detailed his frustration regarding the alleged blocking of his song, 'Lonely,' from Audiomack and YouTube. According to him, JMJ, who produced the beat for the song as part of the 'Riddim of the Gods' project, took ownership of the track, monetized it, and later had his version removed.

Jah Lead claimed that despite having more streams on his account, JMJ also uploaded and promoted the song under his own name, eventually reporting Jah Lead's version for removal. His investigations allegedly revealed that JMJ pitched the entire project to Boomplay and collected revenue from it without consulting him.

He expressed disappointment over JMJ’s refusal to address the issue, describing him as egotistical and unwilling to communicate.

In a fiery warning, Jah Lead vowed to confront JMJ physically if the issue remains unresolved. He insisted that he would not back down and would take matters into his own hands when the opportunity arises.

While the dispute remains unsettled, Jah Lead has moved forward with new music, releasing a song titled 'Hand of Jah,' which he describes as a reflection of his personal freedom and artistic journey.

'Lonely' was one of the songs featured on JMJ's 'Riddim of the Gods' project, released in 2020. The ongoing feud between the two highlights ongoing concerns over copyright ownership and fair compensation within the Ghanaian music industry.
