GENERAL OVERVIEW 

The American Association of University Women(AAUW) is a fantastic opportunity for women who want to pursue graduate and postgraduate studies in the USA. The AAUW fellowship has been in existence since 1917 and has awarded more than 3,600 women from over 150 countries with funding and scholarships opportunities.

The fellowship aims to support women who want to pursue their graduate and post graduate studies in the USA with the intention of returning back to their home countries to make impact.

AAUW International Fellowship Eligibility Criteria 

  • Women who are not USA citizens or permanent residents can apply
  • Must have earned a Bachelor's degree equivalent to a USA Bachelor's degree and must have applied to their proposed institution of study before the deadline
  • Study programs ending prior to April of the fellowship year are not eligible 
  • Must be willing to return back to their respective home countries after graduation to make impact
  • The fellowship is not opened to previous recipients of AAUW grants and awards
  • Members of the AAUW board of directors, staff and interns are not eligible to apply for AAUW's fellowship and grants
  • Unsuccessful applicants are welcomed to reapply
  • Applicants must be proficient in English language and must be willing to submit proof of their English language proficiency.

AAUW INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIP FUNDING

The fellowship awards range from $18,000 to $50,000 per year depending on the type of degree(masters, doctoral, or postdoctoral).

  • Masters: $20,000
  • Doctoral: $25,000
  • Postdoctoral: $50,000

The funds can be used for educational expenses, living expenses, dependent child care expenses and travel to professional conferences expenses.

REQUIRED COMPONENTS FOR THE APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Two recommendations from professors or professional colleagues
  • Documents: Proof of highest degree, official transcripts, official letter from educational institution stating the degree completion date
  • Propoposal.

SELECTION CRITERIA 

Applicants are selected based on academic achievements, demonstrated commitment to women and girls' development and the willingness to make positive impact in their home country, demonstrated evidence of previous community engagement in their home country.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

The application deadline for the funding is November 15, 2024 by 11:59pm. Pacific Standard Time.
