I'll Hand Over to Whoever Ghanaians Choose – Akufo-Addo Assures

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made a major announcement regarding the upcoming elections.  Speaking at the Anlo Hogbetsotso Za festival on November 2, Akufo-Addo declared that he would not be an obstacle to a peaceful handover of power. The President promised to peacefully hand over the reins of the country to whoever wins the election come 2024, assuring his commitment to democratic tenets.

The President also expressed his gratitude to the chiefs and people of Anlo for their support and prayers during his tenure in office. His message was one of unity and peace, recognizing that development can only thrive in a stable environment. "As we all know, without peace, there can be no proper development. The peace we are enjoying today is the peace that will take us through the elections on 7th December," Akufo-Addo said.

Such an assurance is quite fundamental in these times when political tension could get quite high. That promise to respect the outcome of the elections reassures local and international observers that Ghana is irrevocably committed to this democratic process. The President's statement only serves to underline his record as a leader who respects the voice of the people—a necessary principle of democracy: peaceful transfer of power.
