I am still running as Independent Candidate– Cynthia Morrison
Cynthia Morrison, the current MP for Agona West, has refuted media claims that she has changed her mind about running as an Independent candidate in the parliamentary election. She claims that she is adamant about her choice.
The incumbent Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Morrison has denied media reports that she has rescinded her decision to contest the parliamentary election as an Independent Candidate. According to her, she is resolute in her decision.
“I am still running as Independent Candidate in the parliamentary election for Agona West Constituency,” she said on TV3 on October 22.

Speaker Alban Bagbin has vacated the seats of four members of Parliament, including Madam Cynthia Morrison. Three of these parliamentarians are members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The Speaker's announcement comes after the impacted Members of Parliament decided to run as Independent Candidates in the December 7 election, in violation of Article 97(g)(h).
According to earlier media reports, Madam Morrison had decided not to run for office again following discussions with the NPP's parliamentary leadership.Madam Morrison said “no such decision has been taken.”
The former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection responded, "My lawyers are handling the matter," when asked what she was doing about the announcement that her position was vacant.
