God bless our homeland Ghana and make it great and strong-Alban Bagbin
Parliament will meet following the significant events of the previous week that sparked a variety of public comments and responses over the weekend. Many people are looking forward to the session and eagerly following the proceedings after a legal dispute involving the legislative body prompted the Supreme Court to step in and issue a directive to halt the implementation of the Speaker's ruling, which is at the heart of the controversy, last Thursday.
When Mr. Alban S. K. Bagbin announced on October 17 that four Members of Parliament (MPs) were leaving their positions, it caused a stir.
Following the presentation of Afenyo-Markin's legal team's case, the court decided that the Speaker's decision needed to be postponed until the issue was resolved.
Prior to Parliament's next meeting, on Monday night Mr. Alban S. K. Bagbin said on Facebook, "God bless our homeland Ghana and make it great and strong, beyond any single individual or institution."

He declared that four Members of Parliament had defected by registering to run for office in 2024 on various political tickets: Andrew Asiamah Amoako (Independent, Fomena), Kwadwo Asante (NPP, Suhum), Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah (NDC, Amenfi Central), and Cynthia Morrison (NPP, Agona West).
The Speaker's decision, which effectively terminated the MPs' time in office, was based on Article 97 of the 1992 Constitution, which specifies how Members of Parliament must quit their seats.Prior to the Speaker's ruling, Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin filed a lawsuit to interpret Article 97 of the constitution.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin went ahead and filed an ex parte application on Friday, asking the Supreme Court to postpone the Speaker's ruling until the issue was settled.
