Ghana Rugby Appoints Rafatu Inusah as President

Rafatu Inusah has been appointed as the new President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, taking over from Herbert Mensah, who now serves as President of Rugby Africa.

Her election marks a significant milestone as she steps into the leadership role after previously serving as a board member and playing an active role in Ghana Rugby’s development.

With a strong background in the sport, Rafatu began her journey as an athlete before transitioning into coaching and administrative roles. She is also a member of the Women’s Advisory Committee of Rugby Africa, further solidifying her influence in the sport.

Expressing her commitment to the future of Ghana Rugby, Rafatu emphasized the importance of collaboration and growth. “We are going to tirelessly work together to make sure that Ghana Rugby is well represented. I am happy and proud of all of us, not just myself, and very humbled,” she stated.


Supporting her leadership is Vice-President Emmanuel Bamfi, along with newly elected board members Prince Kwaku, Emmanuel Kalos, Abdul Saeed Samed, and SaCut Amenga-Etego, all of whom were elected unopposed. Additionally, Anita Atieku has been appointed as the Women’s Representative, further ensuring inclusive representation within the administration.

The election saw the presence of influential figures, including World Rugby’s Dave Gilbert and the acting Director General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah. Their involvement highlights the growing recognition and importance of Ghana Rugby on both national and international levels.

With their mandate now in effect, Rafatu and her team are poised to drive the sport forward, strengthening Ghana’s representation in global rugby and fostering the development of the game at all levels.
