GAF Issues A Stern Warning Against Unauthorized Use Of Military Uniforms
The Ghana Armed Forces has blown its horn over the growing unauthorized use of military-pattern uniforms, warning the general public to desist from the use of such outfits, especially at protests and public demonstrations.
The Ghana Armed Forces recently cautioned in a statement how some persons use these uniforms for security protection for dignitaries, at illegal mining fields, amongst others, and now engage in political activism.
GAF, however, warned that these actions undermine the authority of the military and pose a serious security risk. The military uniform is a symbol of discipline and order in ensuring security, and abuse of it may confuse the public and make them lose confidence in the Ghana Armed Forces.
GAF indicated that despite warnings, this trend has continued to increase. The unauthorized wearing of military uniforms has been common among those involved in illegal activities like the operation of "Galamsey" sites.
GAF pointed out that such a use of a military outfit in that context can easily be mistaken for an official action, thereby providing avenues for unlawful activities and misrepresentation.

For this reason, GAF has pledged to take such measures seriously, all the way to arresting and prosecuting anyone found running afoul of these regulations. They have, therefore, called on the public to report any suspicious behaviors involving unauthorized military uniforms, calling on all citizens to support the enforcement of these rules.
As the general election is expected in 2024, GAF will continue to assure the public through this that their resolve for peace and security throughout the country will remain intact. The general public was called to cooperate in protecting the territorial integrity of Ghana and providing a safe environment for all citizens.
