‘The Fun Is Over, The Work Is About To Begin’ – Vice President-elect Prof. Opoku-Agyemang Ignites Hope

Ghana's first-ever Vice President-elect, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has issued a mustering call to the supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Ghanaians at large to prepare for the huge task ahead in their process to reset the country.

With a tone of resolution and sanguinity, she has urged everyone to come on board and help the party achieve its objective of creating a prosperous and all-inclusive Ghana.

“The journey is over; the work is about to begin,” she stated on December 9, celebrating the end of a challenging campaign and the dawn of a new era in Ghanaian politics.

In the newly elected Vice President's speech, she pledged to use her position to advocate inclusivity and empowerment, promising to pave the way for others. “I will hold the door open, ensuring others can wish to travel through that door. This position is not just about me, it is a position that empowers others,” she added.

The former Education Minister, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang has made a historic mark in this year's election as the first woman to hold the office of Vice President in the country and it is a groundbreaking achievement celebrated as a victory not only for the NDC but for all Ghanaians, particularly women, youth, and mothers.

“This victory is for all of us, especially for our daughters, youth, and mothers,” she remarked, reflecting on the deeper significance of her win.

Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang also continued to highlight the need for gender equity and balance in building a strong and prosperous nation. “This country is not going to be built by half the gender, and they know very well,” she said, emphasising the importance of everyone contributing to the country's development.

The Professor further called on all Ghanaians to take a vigorous and vibrant role in shaping Ghana's future as she urged them to work diligently in their respective roles and assigned responsibilities.

“I am counting on all of you to work hard in your spaces,” she pleaded, emphasising the collective effort required to achieve everlasting progress.

In concluding her speech, she offered a heartfelt prayer for the nation’s prosperity and future generations.

“I wish blessings on our country, on our children, on those here and yet to be born,” she proclaimed, inspiring hope and unity.
