Construction Work Continues At Buduburam

Construction work has resumed at Buduburam, days after a fatal rock-blasting accident occurred at the construction site. Authorities have said the construction works will continue and things will be done in the interest of safety.

The disastrous accident on October 14 snuffed out many lives besides causing property damage worth millions in the adjoining areas. The incident raised serious questions over the safety measures in place at the spot and also led to immediate demands for a full review of prevailing practices concerning safety.

To this, one response supervisor, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that since the accident, all staff involved in the construction had undergone rigorous additional safety training. He said advanced monitoring systems were being introduced in order to provide improved real-time supervision and prevent any dangerous situations from arising.

Workers at the site have responded quite well to these new measures. In interviews, they showed confidence in this fresh commitment to safety, with some even saying they believe that steps being taken are more than adequate to prevent another tragic accident. "It feels safer now, and the changes show that management is serious about protecting us," one worker shared.

In an interview with CitiNews, the NADMO Director for Gomoa East, Robert Hackman, said the blasting of rocks portion of the work is done. However, he maintained that the safety enhancements on the highway would be there until construction is over to ensure the safety of the workers and those who live around the area.

The resumption of work at Buduburam marks a cautious step forward, with the community and workers primarily looking for assurance that strict practices would, henceforth, avoid disasters.
