Children of Cocoa Farmers Will Receive Free University Education from Next Year – Bawumia

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mahamudu Bawumia says from next year, COCOBOD will pay the fees of all children of cocoa farmers who gain admission to the university.
Addressing chiefs, clergy, and Muslim clerics at the Odotobri Constituency in the Amansie Central Assembly to mark this year’s Farmers’ Day celebrations, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia expressed confidence this will reduce burden on parents.
“Today, because of the free SHS everybody’s child is attending senior high school for free. Government has taken the decision that from next year, children of cocoa farmers, COCOBOD will pay their university fees for free,” he promised.
For his part, the Chief of Odotobri, Nana Adu Darko expressed concern about the deplorable nature of farmlands in the area.
"All our lands have been devastated, the lands have been affected by climate change which has made farming very difficult. If you can help to fix the lands, we will be very grateful to the incoming president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,” he decried.
The NPP flagbearer and vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia assured of new technology to address the deplorable state of the farmlands.
