Chef Failatu-Abdul Razak, known as Chef Faila, captured the attention of Ghanaians with her ambitious 10-day cook-a-thon held at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, starting January 1, 2024.

Her goal was to break the existing 119-hour cooking record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher, with the assistance of her colleague, Chef Malik Eric.

Throughout the 10-day event, Chef Faila showcased her exceptional cooking skills, preparing a diverse array of dishes while incorporating elements of the Northern Region's rich cultural heritage.

Despite her determined efforts, Chef Faila's cook-a-thon took an unexpected turn when she was disqualified due to her reference ID allegedly not being found on the Guinness World Records (GWR) official website. This setback occurred despite her astonishing accomplishment of cooking for an impressive 227 hours, 00 minutes, and 02 seconds.

The disqualification left Chef Faila visibly emotional, as she had poured her heart and soul into the event, supported by celebrities, dignitaries, including Vice-President Bawumia, and numerous Ghanaians. Her tears reflected both her disappointment and disbelief at the unexpected turn of events.

The reason behind the alleged absence of Chef Faila's reference ID on the GWR's official website remains unclear, raising questions about the validity of the disqualification. Despite this setback, Chef Faila's remarkable achievement and unwavering resilience have undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the culinary world in Ghana.
