Cheddar chooses Dr. Maryam Esaka Kriesie as Running Mate for 2024 Election
Independent presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has officially named Dr. Maryam Esaka Kriesie as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election.
The announcement was made in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday night, as Bediako expressed his excitement about embarking on this “remarkable journey” alongside Dr. Kriesie.
In his post, Bediako stated: “I am pleased to announce that I’ll be embarking on this remarkable journey for the presidency with Dr. Maryam Esaka Kriesie as my running mate, the right mate!” He used hashtags like #GhanaWillWorkAgain and #VoteNumber12 to emphasize his campaign goals.
Who is Dr. Maryam Esaka Kriesie?
Dr. Maryam Esaka Kriesie is a seasoned finance professional and academic with significant contributions to Ghana’s financial sector. Her most notable role was as a Senior Manager at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Ghana, where she was responsible for investments, licensing capital market operators, and developing regulatory frameworks that have strengthened Ghana’s capital markets.
In addition to her work at the SEC, Dr. Kriesie has lectured at some of Ghana’s leading academic institutions, including the University of Ghana Business School and the University of Professional Studies, Accra. Her academic qualifications include a PhD in Finance, an MBA, and certifications in Islamic Finance and ERP software.
Dr. Kriesie is also known for her advocacy in women’s rights and economic empowerment. As a Muslim and a staunch advocate for gender equality, she is particularly focused on empowering women in both formal and informal sectors.
By selecting Dr. Kriesie as his vice-presidential candidate, Bediako demonstrates a strong commitment to economic reform and gender equality, which will form the pillars of his 2024 campaign.
