BREAKING NEWS: Ten Hag Sacked By Man Utd
The 54-year-old Dutchman had been in charge of the Red Devils since the summer of 2022 and won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in his two-and-a-half seasons in charge.
Ten Hag has come under intense pressure since last season when Manchester United finished eighth in the Premier League but got a reprieve with their FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.
Earlier this summer, Ten Hag had his contract extended until the summer of 2026 but the pressure ramped up once again at Old Trafford after a poor start to the season.
A 2-1 defeat at West Ham United on Sunday left Manchester United 14th on the Premier League table.
They have also drawn all three of their Europa League games this term.
An official statement from the club read: "Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager."
"Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024."
"We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future."
"Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited."
