Bishop Salifu Amoako Condemns Assault on Journalist Following Court Case

The general overseer of Alive Chapel International, Bishop Salifu Amoako, has publicly denounced the actions of some members of his church who attacked a journalist from the EIB Network. The incident happened on Thursday, October 17, 2024, after an open court hearing involving Amoako's son, who was involved in that unfortunate accident at East Legon that claimed the lives of two girls on Wednesday, October 12.

Addressing his congregation on Sunday, October 20, Bishop Amoako declared that those who perpetrated the attack had done the opposite of lessening his pain while stating that he was very disappointed in these members. He called their actions a disgrace to himself and implored restraint and understanding, especially at sensitive times like this.

"Some of you came to the court to disgrace me," he said. "You didn't behave wisely. You have added more battles to my battles already. What you came to do at the court is very disgraceful."

Bishop Amoako also reminded his congregation that the court is a place where the law is interpreted, not a fighting arena. He then called upon his congregation to be in control of themselves and not to exacerbate an already difficult legal case. "By now, you should be in jail," he said, indicating the severity of their actions.

He concluded by emphasizing that he had never asked any of his adherents to defend him by violent means and underlined the importance of peace, empathy, and dialogue in such difficult times.
