Bayern Munich Mourns 18-Year-Old Footballer’s Tragic Death

Bayern Munich has confirmed the heartbreaking passing of 18-year-old Guo Jiaxuan following a tragic accident during a training match in Spain.
The young defender was struck in the head by an opponent’s knee in February while playing for Bayern’s World Squad, an initiative designed to develop global football talents.
Guo, who also represented China at the Under-17 level, suffered a subarachnoid haemorrhage—a rare stroke caused by bleeding on the brain’s surface.
He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Madrid, but despite medical efforts, his family was later informed that he had no remaining brain function. On Thursday, Bayern Munich released a statement mourning Guo’s passing and extending condolences to his family and friends.
The club acknowledged his contributions as a centre-back for their 2023 World Squad, where he showcased his talent alongside other aspiring professionals.
His last club, Beijing Guoan, also expressed deep sorrow, describing him as a child who loved football. The Chinese club pledged to support his family and handle the situation with care.
Guo’s passing has deeply saddened the football community, with tributes pouring in from fans, teammates, and clubs worldwide.
