Bawumia's Bold Claim: 33 Impactful Policies against Mahama's None
The New Patriotic Party presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on October 23, 2024, goaded former President John Dramani Mahama to tell him about one policy that had an impact during his tenure. He was speaking at Ketu North in the Volta Region and contrasted John Mahama's record in governance with his vision of a transformed Ghana.
Bawumia also boasted of his achievements as vice president, never having been the president, and bragged that he was able to enumerate 33 policies that have changed the lives of Ghanaians. He asserted that these policies were geared toward the betterment and welfare of the people and toward solving pressing issues regarding the nation.
"While I have not been President, if I am to be asked Dr. Bawumia, I can give you 33 different policies in this government, Bawumia boasted. He went ahead to explain that whereas Mahama is yet to show such "concrete" policy successes, he has been implementing new ideas to take the country forward.
He was also commended for being a vice president not tainted with any corruption-related issues, an attribute adding to his political appeal. The leader of the Assemblies of God Church, Reverend Dr. Solomon Paintsil, commended Bawumia's visionary leadership, stating that his policies had positioned Ghana in the comity of nations offering facilities that many of them could not boast of.
As the 2024 election draws near, this challenge by Bawumia now sets the stage for a policy-driven debate, where voters will be enthusiastic to know which of the candidates has more practical solutions to the country's challenges.
