Bawumia Pledges to Involve Youth in Policy Formulation
Vice President and presidential aspirant for the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured the youth of Ghana that his development policies will adopt a bottom-up approach, rather than the top-down methods the country has experienced for years.
Speaking at the programme dubbed “Bawumia for Jobs” at Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, Dr. Bawumia revealed that under his leadership, he will ensure inclusivity. He is certain that the specific needs of the youth will be addressed. One of the ways he promised to achieve this is by practicing a bottom-up approach, where young people are included in policy formulation.
"For inclusivity I want to ensure that the specific needs of young people are sufficiently addressed by my government if given the mandate because I see that as vital if we are serious about making a difference in the long term. If you elect me as your next president, I promise to involve you the young people of Ghana in the formal political processes your voices to be heard and your ideas drafted into formulating policies of government," he assured.
He also believes that with this approach, he will promote democracy within the country. "My goal is to lead a government that makes our young people a positive force for change that they themselves seek and our nation desires, which I know is necessary for the peace and integrity of our democracy," he said.
