Bawumia Highlights Major Petroleum Hub Project Promising 780,000 Jobs

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced at the “Bawumia for Jobs” programme a noteworthy development project targeted at transforming the Nzema area in Jomoro. Bawumia, in his speech revealed that the government is commissioning a $60 billion petroleum hub, which is expected to create approximately 780,000 jobs.

In his words, “You will also see that in addition to this, the government is commissioning the petroleum hub in Jomoro, in the Nzema area. And this is a major project. It's a $60 billion project.” Dr. Bawumia highlighted how big and significant the petroleum hub project is. He made it clear to the public that this is not just a small initiative but a major undertaking that could transform the local economy noting that the portal for recruitment and training has already been opened. “The petroleum hub, as of now, has opened the portal for recruitment and for training already, even before the actual work starts on the ground. So, this is going to be a major, major transformational policy,” he added.

Bawumia assured that, if elected president, he would fully support the petroleum hub project and work diligently to ensure its success. “The petroleum hub, which will come, we're going to support as president. I'm going to move very, very hard for it to come into being. But we are looking at 780,000 jobs with the petroleum hub as we speak,” he affirmed.

Additionally, Bawumia mentioned ongoing efforts in the healthcare sector, saying, “We are also going to make sure that we continue the infrastructure program that we are engaged in. We will complete all the Agenda 111 hospitals; some will be completed this year, and most will be completed next year. A good thing is that we will be able to recruit about 70,000 to 72,000 health personnel in the Agenda 111 hospitals.”

These are not the only vision Bawumia claims to have to promote job creation in the country. In his speech, he also assured the public that there will be inclusivity for all, emphasizing his commitment to providing more job opportunities for persons with disabilities.
