Akufo-Addo Vows Peaceful and Transparent December Elections

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians of a peaceful and transparent election in December 2024, dismissing allegations that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) plans to rig the polls.

He emphasized that election rigging is not part of the NPP’s principles, affirming the party’s commitment to democracy and a fair electoral process.

Speaking at the 13th Biennial and 51st Conference of the Methodist Church of Ghana in Kumasi on Thursday, President Akufo-Addo reiterated his dedication to peaceful elections. "I came out of a peaceful election and will leave in a peaceful election," he declared, underscoring his administration’s resolve to maintain Ghana’s democratic stability.

The President also emphasized that security agencies will be empowered to fulfill their roles in ensuring the safety and stability of the nation during the electoral period. He expressed confidence in their ability to protect the rights of the Ghanaian people and ensure that the elections are conducted without violence or intimidation.

The Akufo-Addo-led NPP is clear about its obligations and duty to ensure that the impending elections are conducted in an atmosphere of peace and security with full transparency and respect for the electoral laws of our country, he stated.

President Akufo-Addo concluded by affirming that the will of the Ghanaian people will prevail on December 7th, 2024, and not the desires of any individual or political party.
