Akufo-Addo And NPP Were Wicked To Ghanaians – Adwoa Safo Recounts Their Loss

Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has openly confessed that the previous government under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) mistreated Ghanaians during its tenure of office, leading to widespread dissatisfaction within the party’s base.
In an interview on Asempa FM, Adwoa Safo acknowledged the party’s failure in the just-ended general elections, emphasizing that internal actions such as the dismissal of certain individuals and the lack of a cabinet reshuffle for eight years contributed to the discontent among party members and the electorate.
“We know that as a government, we were wicked to the Ghanaian people. MPs were targeted when they spoke about the government but we all know that they were telling the truth.
"There was no reshuffle during the eight years. The government even sacked some persons and that also affected our base. The last-minute sacking by the president was very useless, and that brought about the apathy,” she remarked.
The Former Minister for Gender and Social Protection in her speech further urged the NPP to rally behind Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the next election, drawing comparisons to past leaders who faced multiple electoral defeats before eventually winning power.
"We will support him. Every person deserves a second chance. Nana Akufo-Addo won the election on the third attempt. People even said that he had been cursed and could not become president, but he became president. So why have we presented a ticket, and you’ll come and say we should not present him again? Even Prof. Mills didn’t win on his first try.” She stated.
