Actor and politician John Dumelo has come to the aid of Gabriel Selasie Doe, a visually impaired law student at the Ghana School of Law, by paying off his outstanding fees in full.
Doe, who owed GH¢10,400 and faced the risk of deferment, sought assistance through a mutual friend. Dumelo not only covered the fees but also provided additional funds to help Doe recover a laptop he had previously sold.
The NDC parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon shared the story on Instagram, along with photos from his interaction with Doe. He wrote:
"Visually impaired law student Gabriel Selasie Doe reached out to me through a friend for help with the remaining GHS 10,400 fees after selling his laptop. By God’s grace, I have fully paid his fees and given him money to get his laptop back."
While many have applauded Dumelo’s act as a commendable investment in education, others have criticized it as a potential political strategy ahead of the election.
