On November 24, 2024, at the Bukom Boxing Arena, Abigail Kwartekaa Quartey rose triumphant, becoming the first Ghanaian female boxer to claim a world boxing Championship title.

The female boxing sensation exhibited outstanding prowess, resolve, and national pride as she clashed against Sangeeta Birdie from the United Kingdom in the World Super Bantamweight division. After a fierce contest, Abigail Kwartekaa Quartey emerged victorious after all three judges scored 98-91 via unanimous decision in favour of the Ghanaian securing her 9th win in her career as a professional boxer.The 28-year-old is currently ranked number one in the Female Bantamweight division in Ghana and 50th out of 170 female boxers worldwide. The Ghanaian sensation aims to enhance her performance and secure more accolades for Ghana.
