Independent Ghana Declines Due To Poor Administration
Brief overview of Ghana's independence
On the 6th of march 1957, Ghana, formerly addressed as gold coast.gained independence from Britain colonial rule. This achievement was seen as the beginning of a new political administration. Ghana was the first African country to gain independence, thus, creating a path for other countries to follow.
Initial optimism and a chance for potential growth. At this memorial day, Ghana was entitled with:
- Natural resources (timber, gold, bauxite, etc)
- Strategic location (Avenue for west African trade)
- Effective infrastructure (roads, railways, etc).
Thesis statement:poor administration has hindered Ghana's progress. Despite its beautiful start, her development has been hindered by poor administration.
Problems Facing Mother Ghana
- Economic mismanagement:
State - own enterprise in Ghana have not been effective to yield the maximum output. For instance, the Ghana Cocoa Board has not been able to make research on the planting and preservation of the Ghana Cocoa Farmers. Due to this, pest attack the cocoa causing minimum harvest.
2. Politically:
Ghana has not been able to grow due to frequent change in government and tribalism. Frequent change in government does not give enough time for the party or government in power to complete it's policies and objectives. When they leave it uncompleted the next government ignores it since they claim that they are not the one in charge. Tribalism is also contribution factor thus, favoring the tubes that they belongs to rather than serving the whole country.
3. Inadequate Healthcare System .
Health centers in Ghana are not enough. The existing ones also find it difficult to run because of poor condition of service.
