Mineral Deposits is one of the resources for a country to develop. It contribute to about 30 - 40% of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Ghana is recognized as one of the leading countries in terms of mineral Deposits (Gold, Diamond, bauxite and others.)

The means to get these resources is more important thus it can create problems in the country. 

In Ghana, mining activities are popularly known as "Galamsey" and has ruined many societies occupied with beautiful Forest. In the open-cast Method, vast holes are created and left behind without covering it. 

It also deteriorate our water bodies which makes it contaminated. Prominent water bodies like river Brim, River Pra , River Densu have been destroyed.

This kind of method is very bad and should be stopped in Ghana. 

Ghanaian government has not been able to curb or prevent this activities. Due to this , the vegetative cover of Ghana is destroyed. People also loose their lives in course of that. It's considered as illegal. Contaminated water can cause disease outbreak or death. 

Mining sites such as Atiwa, Obuasi, Abirem and Kumasi are facing a dilemma. Something must be done immediately to save mother Ghana.
