90% of SHS Placement Issues Addressed, Says Resolution Centre
The Resolution Centre set up by the Ministry of Education to address challenges of Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates who have issues with their senior high school (SHS) placement say they have so far resolved 90 per cent of complaints brought to it.
The Deputy Coordinator of the Free SHS Secretariat, Nana Afrah Sika Mensah, told the media that the issues solved included placing candidates who were earlier not placed in school and change of school.
She said this on Monday, November 4, 2024, during an interaction with Graphic Online at the National Resolution Centre set up at the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Hall in Accra.
Their concerns included self-placement, change of school, change of status from day to boarding and vice-versa, and change of programme.
At the crowded centre, officers from the Free SHS Secretariat are on hand to attend to parents and guardians and address their issues amicably.
There is also a police presence to ensure peace and order.
As part of their daily schedule, personnel from the Free SHS Secretariat assist parents and their children on what to do to get their issues resolved.
BACKGROUND
Some BECE candidates earlier bemoaned some pending results after WAEC released the 2024 BECE results. Meanwhile, amid the pending results, students were to report on October 30.
